The Saint-Amour “À la Folie” has won over so many with its unabashed, bodacious curves, middleweight texture and big flavor. It was always the greater potential production between these two Saint-Amour crus and was the one the Chardigny boys ran most of their experiments with different aging vessels between concrete, stainless steel, foudre, and small oak barrels. On the nose, this Beaujolais rich in personality is a punch of charming bright and full red fruit, freshly cut sweet green herbs and warm earthiness. The cellar aging takes place in a mix of concrete, stainless steel, and neutral oak barrels, which keeps the wine full of life—a real show stopper!

Producer: Domaine Chardigny

A family estate between Beaujolais and Burgundy.

It is between Burgundy and Beaujolais that the Chardigny estate cultivates vines and transforms magnificent grapes into quality wines. The exploitation of an area of 20 hectares extends over different clay-limestone slopes.

In 2015, on the strength of various commercial experiences, Pierre-Maxime took over the estate. Quickly, Victor, holder of an oenology diploma, joined him. They are supported by their brother Jean-Baptiste, also working in viticulture and their father who made his career in the bottling of wine at the property.

The estate has 8 hectares of Saint-Véran among the best slopes of the appellation, 6 hectares of Saint-Amour, 3 hectares of Beaujolais-Villages and 3 hectares of Burgundy. The vines are cultivated organically, that is to say without synthetic pesticides or herbicides. The good health of the soil and the vines are the key to having quality grapes allowing the production of unique wines.

All their vines are cultivated according to the principles of organic farming.
